Nickel Tested: When a product is marked “Nickel Tested,” it means that the manufacturer has conducted tests to determine the amount of nickel present in the product. This statement suggests that the manufacturer has carried out testing to ensure that the product complies with nickel release limits set by regulations, such as the European Directive which imposes a limit of 0.2 micrograms of nickel per square centimeter of contact surface for week.

Nickel Free: The wording “Nickel Free” indicates that the product has been designed and manufactured to contain a negligible amount of nickel or even no trace of nickel. This statement is particularly useful for those who are sensitive or allergic to nickel, ensuring that the product is safe to wear without the risk of allergic reactions to nickel.
